In the midst of the budget crisis, Gov. Rauner hits the slopes in Utah
Yet again, the governor puts the people of Illinois last
CHICAGO — Illinois Working Together Campaign Director Jake Lewis released the following statement in response to the news that Gov. Bruce Rauner took a secret ski trip to Utah last weekend:
“Instead of focusing on Illinois after his much-ridiculed budget address, Gov. Rauner decided to jet off on a secret ski trip to Utah, his office refusing to answer questions on the governor's whereabouts until today. Unfortunately, most Illinois families don't enjoy the same jet-setting lifestyle as they continue to feel the pain of the 20-month Rauner-imposed impasse.
"Illinois' students, seniors, and the economy are suffering because of Rauner's refusal to compromise, though the governor did not let the state's deteriorating fiscal condition interrupt his vacation. While Rauner celebrated, his campaign pressed donors for birthday contributions and a new report detailed the damage his impasse is having on K-12 education in Illinois. No matter to the governor, who would rather hit the slopes than actually work on finding solutions to the crisis he created."
