Illinois Working Together Campaign Director Jake Lewis released the following statement regarding Donald Trump's upcoming fundraiser in Illinois:

"Governor Bruce Rauner must be thrilled for Donald Trump's upcoming Illinois fundraiser. After all, the governor has stated that he will support Trump as the GOP nominee and proclaimed that 'Republicans are gonna control our federal government in every office...this is the year we take back the White House.' The Illinois Republican Party, led by Rauner, describes itself as in 'lockstep' with the Trump campaign. Surely the governor is eager for Trump's visit.

"There are, however, many in Illinois who are not excited for Trump's big-money fundraiser. Trump's ugly attacks on Gold Star Families, the disabled, working families, women, and others are dangerous and divisive. Despite Trump's toxic campaign, Governor Rauner refuses to revise his support for Trump, even as a new report shows many from his own party stepping away from the nominee.

"Bruce Rauner and Donald Trump are two peas in a pod, and they're both wrong for Illinois's working families."
