Rauner's Lack of Action Speaks Louder Than His Empty Words on TrumpCare
Illinois Working Together Campaign Director Jake Lewis released the following statement in response to Gov. Bruce Rauner's TrumpCare statement:
"Gov. Rauner's tepid statement of 'concern' about today's TrumpCare vote is the latest demonstration of Rauner's refusal to do his job for the people of Illinois. Instead of taking a clear stand and advocating on behalf of the 1.2 million Illinoisans who may lose their health care due to this bill, the governor would rather duck the issue and try to avoid the political consequences.
"TrumpCare would make health care more expensive for working families, weaken protections for people with pre-existing conditions, blow a massive hole in our already disastrous state finances, and give Rauner himself a $6 million tax cut. It is time for the governor to drop the political games and take a clear, unambiguous stand against this legislation — before it is too late."
