Rauner and Walker: Two of the Most Unpopular Governors Together At Last

With a new poll out today showing just 26% of Illinoisans approve of Gov. Bruce Rauner's job performance, Rauner is calling in his political idol Scott Walker tonight to help save his failing governorship.

Unfortunately for Gov. Rauner, Walker is nearly as disliked as he is, owning the fourth-worst approval rating of any governor running for re-election this year. Turns out attacking the middle class and undercutting unions is unpopular. Who knew?

"Gov. Rauner and Gov. Walker have a lot in common. They both love their Harleys, they both hate unions, and they both are horribly unpopular," said Illinois Working Together Campaign Director Jake Lewis. "The good news for Illinoisans is that Bruce Rauner has failed to implement Scott Walker's anti-middle class, anti-working families agenda. The bad news is that Rauner's quest to destroy unions in Illinois caused a two-plus year budget crisis, led to one of the worst job growth rates in the region, and caused Illinois' bill backlog to explode.

"Maybe it's time for Gov. Rauner to look elsewhere for political inspiration. Or maybe it's too late."
